We are pleased to announce that our places for 10Yfan 2025 are now available for anyone who would like to take part. This year marks the 10 ^th anniversary of 10YFan and we are immensely proud of our association with the event since it’s conception in 2015. We are delighted to offer our continued support and look forward to celebrating the 10 ^th anniversary of this hugely successful event.

10Yfan has been at the heart of Holibobs since our creation in 2018 and we have seen this event grow in both size and impact, providing vital support for our own initiatives as well as many other charities and causes. The funds raised through 10Yfan have been instrumental in helping us to reach out to more families, offer essential short breaks and holidays, and create lasting memories that make a world of difference to the families we support.

Every year, participants come together with a shared goal of making a positive impact, and their enthusiasm and dedication are truly inspiring. We have built strong relationships with many individuals and organisations through this event, and it has become a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to many more years of collaboration and success with 10Yfan, continuing our mission to support children in Wales diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia.

Our places for 10YFan 2025 are limited and are offered on a first come first served basis.

Registration is free subject to a commitment to fundraise a minimum of £250 for Holibobs and each participant will receive a welcome pack which will include a t-shirt as well as other goodies.

Holibobs Nominated as a Finalist for the Cardiff Life Awards

We are delighted to share that Holibobs has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Charities category of the Cardiff Life awards for a second year running!

Last year was the first time we’d entered these awards and having made the shortlist as a finalist we were extremely proud to then receive a ‘Highly Commended’ from the panel of independent judges, based on our efforts during 2020.

It is fantastic to have been selected as a finalist again this year, alongside 4 other wonderful charities, all of whom are very worthy finalists. We all now have our fingers crossed that we can go one better than last year and be crowned winners in the charities category at the awards, which take place at Cardiff City Hall on 31st March 2022.

Virtual Runner Fundraiser - Run or Walk for Holibobs

Holibobs has been nominated for support by Virtual Runner UK, and participants taking part get to choose to run either 5k, 10k or a half marathon. Race entry is £13 and Virtual Runner will donate 20% of this fee to Holibobs helping us to raise more funds for our cause.

Christmas Afternoon Tea at Chapel 1877

In December 2019, Holibobs hosted a Christmas Afternoon Tea at Chapel 1877 to include an amazing array of savoury and sweet treats. prosecco and fun games of bingo with a host of raffle prizes on offer. The evening raised £750.00 for the charity to help provide more wonderful holidays for children diagnosed with cancer and their families.

Holibobs Autumn Ball 2021

Join us for our annual Autumn Ball on the Saturday 18th September 2021 at Jurys Inn, Cardiff, to help grant more magical holidays for children diagnosed with cancer and their families. You will enjoy a drink’s reception, a delicious 3 course meal, plus entertainment and a disco.

During the evening we will be sharing with you the stories from our last year and celebrating the achievements of our amazing fundraisers and partners. You will also have the opportunity to win some great prizes during our raffle.

It Ain't Easy Being Cheesy - Pizza Run 2019

Sadly this years Pizza run was cancelled and although many completed the run virtually, we though we would take a look at back at last years event with Ellie, Harri, Dylan and Darcy all running for team Holibobs at the Cardiff Pizza Run 2019.

W e look forward to running again next year to raise awareness and funds for children diagnosed with cancer.

10 Y Fan 2020

Pen Y Fan is 2,907 ft and Everest is 29,029 feet, so you could say that if you completed 10YFan, it is the equivalent of climbing Everest ….. tenuous maybe, but it just shows the enormity of achieving the full ten climbs. You don’t need oxygen, snow boots or a tent though, just a determination to complete as many climbs as you want in 24 hours.

10YFan is for everyone, and whether you complete one climb or ten, it’s an amazing accomplishment. We will support and encourage you on every step of your journey and do our best to make your 10YFAN something to remember.

What we can promise is a unique experience. We start early evening and continue through the night for a 24-hour period. You get to see a side of Pen Y Fan that many don’t, including (if we’re lucky with the weather) an uninterrupted view of the night sky and breaking dawn.

Holibobs Easter Packs for Children in Hospital

What makes Easter worse for most children having chemotherapy treatment is that even chocolate tastes rubbish!!

Here at Holibobs we put together some activity packs for the children whilst they were in hospital from us and from you to let them know we are thinking of them.

The items included activity books, colouring, word searches, craft packs, mosaic art, pens, pencils, puzzles, and some small toys like Rubik’s cubes. Everything donated was new and appropriate for children aged 2-12.

Cardiff Half Marathon 2019

Join Lee & Steve at this year's Cardiff Half Marathon and raise for Holibobs!

The Cardiff Half Marathon is one of the most popular half marathon's in the UK and we would love for you to support us whether as a runner or a volunteer!

The race is on the 6th October 2019. We will all, runners & volunteers and supporters, meet beforehand for a group photo. For those who are running for Holibobs you will get a free meal and a pint after the event as a thankyou for your support!

We ask that all runners commit to raising a minimum of £200.

Darcy's Story

When we found out that our beautiful daughter had cancer, shortly before her 3rd birthday, our world quickly shrunk to very little beyond our home and the hospital. Our lives became a whirlwind of tests, scans, chemotherapy and surgery, as all of the aspects of everyday family life that we’d taken for granted until the terrifying day we received the diagnosis suddenly disappeared. Our priority immediately became caring for Darcy, everything else became secondary to this. We were so lucky that the cancer was caught early and treatment was successful but we needed to start rebuilding our life as a family again after the inevitable periods where the family was split by the time spent in hospital for treatment.

We were offered the chance of a break at a caravan owned by a local cancer charity, which allowed us to have a few days away together as a family. The whole summer had been spent in and out of hospital, meaning that the children had both missed out on all the holidays and other fun that their friends were having, so this was a wonderful opportunity for them to get something back. It is almost impossible to put into words how special this time was for us all and how grateful we were to have it. After months of feeling trapped in our house or separated, due to time spent in hospital wards, just to be able to spend time together as a family was an amazing feeling. Darcy had a Hickman line fitted during treatment through which she had her chemotherapy drugs, which meant that she could not go swimming, something she really loved to do before her illness.

One of our happiest memories of the holiday was seeing the look of pure joy on her face being back in a pool, splashing around with her brother. We were very aware of the huge impact of his sisters illness on our son too and how important it was for them both to have time together to play and have fun, which they really got to do when we were away. Time away together gave us a chance to be a normal family again, something we were so grateful for. We have some truly wonderful memories of this time, which we will all cherish for the rest of our lives.

Harri's Story

Harri was just 4 years old when he was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma in November 2014. It was whilst getting him changed into his pyjamas, watching Children In Need that we felt a small lump on Harri’s forearm. At the time we never imagined that it would be anything serious and left the first appointment in disbelief and complete shock. Within days Harri was having the full range of scans and following a biopsy a couple of weeks later our worst possible fears were confirmed. Within no time at all we found ourselves thrust into a very frightening world of treatment plans, cycles of medicine and having to find ways of living with awful side effects and protecting Harri as much as possible from the increased risk of infection.

Nothing at all could have prepared us! Over the last four years Harri has endured various forms of treatment and hospital procedures that have been so terribly hard on him and totally heart breaking for us. He has missed out on so much that is everyday and normal but his courage, resilience and cheeky personality shines through always. He has the most amazing imagination and can quite literally make a game out of anything. He is strong willed and determined and has many, many loves from his big sister and best friends to trains, football, David Attenborough and Harry Potter. He is quite simply our superhero!

When Harri was asked what holidays meant to him he said that they made him feel free and we can’t think of a better description. Freedom from hospital, freedom from medicine and the sickness it brings, freedom from horrible procedures allowing him the time to be the child he should be and being given the opportunity to spend time away having fun and being normal means the world to him.

Snail Race Night

Please join us in our very popular snail night on 22nd March 2019 at the Discovery Pub, Lakeside, Cardiff from 7pm. Don’t panic….the snails are animated so you are not going to be sat there looking at actual snails!

Tickets are £15.00 each which will include curry & chips/rice and an evening of snail racing as well as a raffle. This is a really good, light-hearted night out and helps us raise much needed funds for the charity.

You have the option of sponsoring a snail (£5 each) and if your snail wins one of the races then you win a bottle of prosecco - so far for this years event we have received sponsorship from California and Australia.....our snail night is International!!
